How do I become a member?

How do I transfer a pony?
You must be a financial member to have a pony transferred into your name
The reverse of the original certificate of registration must be completed and signed by both the last registered owner (person on the certificate which may be different to the person you have brought the pony from) and the new purchaser
Transfers to be applied for within 30 days of purchase. The date of transfer can not be back dated more than 30 days.

How do I lease a pony?
Both the leasor and lessee must be a financial member to have a pony leased into your name for the duration of the lease period.
The maximum lease period is 5 years.
The reverse of the original certificate of registration must be completed and signed by both the Lessor and Lessee
Payment of $33 must be sent to the APSB Federal office:

The lessor will receive the original certificate and lessee a copy.
How do I terminate a lease?
If the lease is for a predetermined period you are required to send the original certificate back to the APSB office. A new certificate will be printed and sent back at no cost.
If the lease is terminated prior to the lease period or the end of an previously established open lease please complete a lease termination form.

How do I register a PUREBRED pony from birth?
- Complete a Pure Bred Registration Application form. Please ensure you tick either colt, mare or gelding
- Complete all fields on form
- If registered from birth the application MUST be made by the breeder
- All registrations from birth must be supported by annual returns which are submitted each July.
- Applications that are not supported by Annual Returns may require DNA testing.
- The breeder must have a brand & prefix registered with the society.
- Registrations must comply with the Society’s Rules and Regulations
- Refer to the fees and charges for the appropriate charge
- If the stallion is not owned by the breeder, a certificate of service must be submitted with registration application.

How to reciprocal register a pony
- Refer to the APSB Regulations on recognised societies that the reciprocal registration can be accepted. For ponies born in Australia these are the Welsh Pony & Cob Society and the Connemara Pony Stud Book
- Complete a registration application form for your breed. Please tick either colt, mare or gelding.
- Tick reciprocal registration application
- Complete all fields on form
- The form is to be completed by the current pony owner who must be an APSB member
- A copy of registration papers which the applicant being the owner to attach application
- Registrations must comply with the Society’s Rules and Regulations
- Refer to the fees and charges for the appropriate charge

How do I register a PARTBRED pony?
- Refer to the APSB Part Bred Regulations to check that your pony qualifies
- A minimum of 25% APSB bloodline eg dam, sire, grand dam or grand sire must be registered APSB. 50% APSB bloodlines required for colts / stallions. e.g. sire or dam.
- Complete a part bred registration application form, please tick either colt, mare or gelding.
- Complete all fields on form including the first 2 generations of pedigree
- The form to be completed by the current pony owner who must be an APSB member
- The application must be supported for proof of breeding by either
- Annual Returns
- A copy of registration papers from another society
- Certificate of Service
- Refer to the fees and charges for the appropriate charge

How do I register an APSB Riding Pony?
- Refer to the APSB Riding Pony Regulations to check that your pony qualifies
- Complete a APSB Riding Pony Registration Application form, please tick either colt, mare or gelding.
- Complete all fields on form
- The form to be completed by the current pony owner who must be an APSB member
- The application must be supported for proof of breeding by either
- Annual Returns
- A copy of registration papers from the Riding Pony Stud Book Society
- Certificate of Service
- Refer to the fees and charges for the appropriate charge

How do I register a Gypsy Cob?
- Refer to the APSB Gypsy Cob Regulations to check that your pony qualifies
- Complete a APSB Pure Bred Registration Application form. Please tick either colt, mare or gelding.
- Complete all fields on form including microchip number and/or brands
- If a pony eligible for registration as a Section 1 Gypsy Cob is born in Australia both sire and dam must be registered in the APSB Gypsy Cob Section 1, unless the applicant is imported in utero. Registration procedure as per the purebred registration procedure.
- If a pony is imported and registered with a recognised society, registration procedure as per the Purebred Registration Procedure with the supporting documents
- Copy of Registration with overseas society
- Copy of passport
- Copy of DNA report
- Microchip number
- An application to record a pony as a Section 11 APSB Part Bred Gypsy Cob must have a minimum of 25% APSB Gypsy Cob bloodlines for a female or gelding through one parent either registered as a Section 1 Gypsy Cob or a Section 11 Gypsy Cob Part Bred with 50% APSB Gypsy Cob bloodlines. An application to record a pony as a Section 11 APSB Gypsy Cob stallion /colt must have a minimum of 50% APSB Gypsy Cob bloodline through one parent registered as a Section 1 APSB Gypsy Cob.
